Carol asks…

Reviews on the new Blackberry Bold 9900?

Hey guys, I am getting the new Blackberry Bold 9900 tomorrow and I want to hear some reviews on the phone. Is it a phone worth buying? Let me know, thanks!

admin answers:

The display on the BlackBerry 9900 is excellent. It’s the first higher resolution device out of RIM, featuring a 640 x 480-pixel panel

Mark asks…

How is the blackberry bold 9900 battery life?

ll the reviews say the battery life sucks and people are charging it twice a day, I personally would be a average type user (not on the phone 24/7). I have also herd the "2nd" batch of them has the battery problem fixed and its lasting 2 days now, I'm thinking of getting a white one so i'm assuming that would be 2nd or even 3rd batch, Anything related to the 9900 is appreciated.

admin answers:

Battery life really sucks! Actually, before I got mine, I had heard that battery life wasn't that good but I never thought it would be this bad.
Some people say that theirs have gotten better after updating the operating system but I have also heard from others that their phone bricked after doing that, so I'm kind of afraid of upgrading my OS.

Anyway, I love the keyboard and the bigger and responsive touch screen, the resolution and how much faster it is for web browsing than previous models, but this phone has too many issues: it gets hot, the camera is not that good, it freezes, a lot of people are on their second or third replacement because of bricking issues or build defects, etc.

I suggest that before you buy, you check out the crackberry forums on the Bold 9900 section.I do remember reading a post about someone who got a white one and how he thought that the white ones were better than the first models so you might be right about that.

Hope this helps!

Robert asks…

Blackberry bold 9900 unlocked T-mobile branded?

Hi, I'm planning to purchase a new cellphone and I chose the bold 9900. I was going to buy it on amazon, and I chose the item. the problem is that I read the customers reviews and there were a lot of people complaining about that it was a T-mobile branded phone and that they couldn't use 3G.

Can you explain me what is the problem if it's said that the phone is unlocked? Can I use any type of SIM card with this unlocked T-mobile phone?

admin answers:

It all depends on what carrier you are going to use with your unlocked Blackberry Bold 9900.

How is it working?
The Blackberry Bold 9900 is a GSM device which can come with different radio support, it comes on those versions:
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 / 800
HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100

If the Blackberry Bold 9900 is a T-Mobile branded device it will work on t-mobiles 4G speeds using the frequency bands that T-mobile uses to provide the UMTS on thier network using those GSM bands:
1700 MHz/2100 MHz

At&t uses 850 MHz UMTS/HSPA and 1900 MHz UMTS/HSPA Bands to provide 3G speeds.
So At&t branded Blackberry will work on t-mobile if unlocked but it will use the 1900 MHz frequency band which used by t-mobile to provide 2G (EDGE) speeds.

So, you just need to know what are the bands that your carrier using and then buy the right Blackberry that have the right hardware inside of it to support the speeds.

Blackberry Bold 9900 from Rogers, Bell, Telus will work with H+ speeds on At&t... If the phone is unlocked those carriers are using the same bands so there won't be a problem to get the speeds..

But, A Blackberry from those carriers will only have 2G speeds with a SIM card from T-Mobile.
If you buy a T-Mobile Blackberry bold 9900 it will work with carrier such as WIND, Mobilicity & Cincinnati Bell.

Most of the devices will work on European carriers and even worldwide on most carrier..
The problem is only with the north American networks and as listed above you can see what will fit your carriers sim cards to get full speeds.
About "unlocked" phones... Basically when you buy a Blackberry from a carrier it comes branded to the carrier with the OS build and the service books installed on it to fit the carrier.. Those things can be changed.. Another thing is a SIM lock which is set on a device.

The sim lock is a security which locks the phone to work only with the carrier it's branded to... For example a Blackberry Bold 9900 from Bell Mobility won't work with Rogers SIM cards or with At&t SIM cards or with any carriers sim card other then Bells sim card... Because it's locked..

Blackberry unlocking (which is legal and safe) is simply removing that sim lock from the device making it a SIM free phone that can be used with any carrier worldwide.
Simply, if the sim lock is active then when you put a sim card from other carrier you won't get any signal with the device and you can't use it for calls, sms and data... But if the Blackberry is unlocked then it will read any sim card from any carrier.

Any Blackberry that has a GSM radio device including the Bold 9900 and the Bold 9930 can be unlocked using remote unlocking services for Blackberry mobile devices, it's done by inserting the unique unlock code that can unlock the device. Services such as "Blackberry Unlocking" - http://www.blackberry-unlocking.org can be used to unlock any Blackberry in minutes.

When you get your Blackbery Bold 9900 unlocked the SIM lock will be removed and the device will no longer be limited to the brand carrier you got it from... Then you can use it with any carrier worldwide... A T-mobile Blackberry Bold 9900 will also work with At&t SIM card but on EDGE (2G) and with any other GSM sim card... Unlocking a Blackberry is a good thing to do with your device because it simply removes some limits that was set into it and then you can sell it faster or use it with other carrier and that's how you save money and keep your phone if traveling (can be used with prepaid sim cards) or switching carriers.

The CDMA version Blackberry Bold 9930 is also included with a GSM radio and also can be unlocked and used with GSM service providers...

Bottom line, if your Blackberry is unlocked you can use it with any carrier.. But there are a few builds of the device so the limits are not related to the unlocking it self and unlocking a phone will remove the limits of being bound to the carrier the phone is branded with.

It's also legal and safe to unlock a Blackberry, it won't effect the settings or anything and there is no need to unlock the phone more then once even if you wipe it the device will stay unlocked.

So just see what are the bands your carrier are using for 3G/H+ and get a Blackberry Bold 9900/9930 that supports those bands...
You can unlock the device by yourself even if it's a 9930 Blackberry so if you have a good deal for a new device it's worth to do it.

Jenny asks…

blackberry bold 9900 vs iphone 4s?

for christmas, my dad said he would buy me a new phone to replace my 6 year old iphone 3G(no, not the 3GS, just 3G). so i'm stuck between the dilemma of the blackberry bold 9900 and the iphone 4s. there were mixed reviews for the iphone 4s, some horrible, some phenomenal. could you help me make some comparisons between the two phones following the criteria here?
-typing
-generally easier to use
-apps (all apps, not just games)
-games
-photography and videography.

thanks sooo much in advance, and if you would like to add to the criteria, please feel free.

i love britney spears <3 <3 <3 britney ftw

admin answers:

1-(typing) black berry. 2-(easier to use) Tuff one maybe....iPhone 3-(apps) tie, they both have a bunch of apps but I heard that black berry a has a bunch of more free apps. 4-(games) black berry but it's tuff 5-(photography and videography) iPhone plus you can buy a buch of apps to edit videos and pictures. Total= black berry-3 IPhone-2 but honestly there both very good if you get one and not the other you won't regret much. It also depends on ur career like black berry is better for business where iPhone is also good for business but can still offer alot for other jobs. What ever you decide you will have very little to no regrets. And yes britney 4 the win :). - Carter

Steven asks…

Should I get a Blackberry Bold 9900, Blackberry Torch 9810 or iPhone 4 or 4S?

Someone stole my phone about a month ago and it was a blackberry curve, I loved my Blackberry! It never broke, despite the amount of times I threw it about (accidentally of course) and it was just a good phone all round. So obviously now i'm looking for a new phone and I've narrowed it down to 3 (which you can see in the question.) I don't really know much about phones, I just know I want a new one! I'd like a phone that won't break easily (like the iphone does... but apparently putting a case on it makes a massive difference!) and one that is reliable but also fun, and useful! I think visually, I like the Blackberry torch the most, but still, I'm not sure which one is the best out of the three!
SO BASICALLY!
What I'm asking is, if anyone has any of these phones, please would you tell me the pros and cons, so I can make a decision.
Thanks :))

admin answers:

Being a blackberry user myself and now owning a blackberry bold 9900 I believe you would be very happy going with the bold. I had a iphone 4 and yes the phone is very fun but coming back to blackberry I don't miss it at all. This phone is amazing. Its very fast and responsive. I haven't had any laging issues, browsing on the web is easy and enjoyable. The call quality is great. I just love my bold. The only con I've come to notice is the battery life.
I haven't personally owned the torch so I can speak on that.
The iphone 4 for me like I said is a fun device. If you are willing to lose the physical keyboard I do believe you would be happy with the iphone as well. I would say the only thing the iphone 4 has over the blackberry are the larger number of applications to pick from.
I hope this helped. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Linda asks…

blackberry bold 9700 vs 9900?

would a bb 9700 case fit a 9900 or are they different, b/c i want to get a case but they dont come in the 9900 which is the phone that i have they only have up to the 9700 so does that mean there the same fit?
so does that mean that i can get a 9700 case and it will fit my 9900 or am i going to be wasting my money?

admin answers:

No, The Bold 9900 is bigger than a 9700, it has a wider keyboard and screen. There is no way a 9700 case would fit it. You would be wasting your money.

The 9900 is a very new model so that explains why there might not be a lot of cases available for it at the moment. Try to check if you can find some online!

Laura asks…

Question regarding Blackberry cases; help would be appreciated!?

So my friend asked if I wanted to buy a Blackberry cover for like, 5 bucks and they all look nice but my BB is a 9780 Bold, whereas he has covers for 9900 & 9300... does anybody know if there's a huge difference if I get a cover for the 9900 or 9300?
EDIT: Please. Educated guesses or none at all...
By "educated guesses", I mean no stupid responses.

Questions About Blackberry Vs Android Phones

Jenny asks…

New android phone vs blackberry 9900?

What's better?
What would you buy? Include reasoning.
Thank you.

admin answers:

Androids are much better. They have faster processors and always a bigger selection of apps. Plus, blackberry's are damaged to early. You'd probably save money buying an android

James asks…

Blackberry vs. Android?

I'm currently phone shopping & I have wanted a blackberry for a while but I have heard that people have had many problems with them internet wise & also sometimes not recieving text messages & have been told that I should probably get an Android phone instead. I am wondering if this is true...people with Blackberry's, your comments on how you like your phone would be very helpful!

admin answers:

Blackberry is better overall, more stable alot of Androids would be better but they freeze much of the time.

Linda asks…

Android powered phones vs. Blackberries?

Hello all :) I'm looking at maybe getting a smartphone next summer with verizon. But I'm no entirely sure which one is the best because I don't wanna be spending my money on something and it be crappy, know what I'm saying? So my question is, which of these types of phones is better: android powered phones (like the droid) or blackberries? Ithibk both but like I said above I don't wanna have to be paying for something and it sucks. So lots of opinions, answers, and maybe some links to some legit sites would be muchly appreciated :) thanks! :)

admin answers:

I had the same problem months ago. Anyway, i chose blackberry. I enjoy it now but i think that if you want to really maximize the features of your phone, get an android. I recommend htc evo. Blackberry offers an app world that has some apps but the android market offers MORE apps.

Mary asks…

LG Android vs Blackberry Brand For highschool?

Im deciding between LG Android or Blackberry brand for highschool

I can get any phone for 0$ as long as I stay to the same company for 3years. Like the company im going is Telus.

LG Android phone i picked is
-LG Optimus One or LG Optimus 7 (Help me pick one please give me your opinions)

Blackberry:
-Blackberry Curve

In highschool probably most ppl have Blackberry bcuz of the BBM but if I can get something new or unique such as an LG Android would it still be good?

Please tell me which one would be good

admin answers:

LG Optimus 7

Tthe Marketplace has also the essential apps (Kindle, Netflix, etc.)

The screen not too glossy so it's not very prone to fingerprints as some of the other phones.

As for performance, this is probably one of the fastest phone that I've ever seen. I have had the phone for 6 months and have yet to see any lag, hang, or crash at all. In fact, it will blow the Optimus One and BlackBerry Curve handsets out of the water from a performance perspective.

Another important factor is the feel. While the Optimus One feels cheap and flimsy, the Optimus 7 feels solid in the hand and has a much more tactile texture.

Michael asks…

Blackberry vs Every Other Phones?

What's with the blackberry? how come everywhere i go i always here people saying they'd get rid of their current phone for a blackberry. c'mon.. i held a blackberry not too long ago and i'd dare say android or even the dying symbian os has more to offer. but then again i may be wrong. so what's the deal? can someone please enlighten me.

Thanks in advance.

admin answers:

I have no idea, that's crazy. I have a blackberry and I would do anything to get rid of it! I'm so fed up with everything about this phone. I've had 5 blackberries before (handed down or replaced because it failed), and first off the touchscreen blackberry was absolute garbage. The OS is terrible, and the GUI is more complex then it needs to be. Nothing on the phone seems to be meant for ease of use, choices of applications suck. The browser sucks. My E-mails fail all the time. My Media card has failed on three different models deleting everything I had on it. I would also like to mention that when you shut the phone off completely it takes 5 minutes just to turn back on. It has a tendency to call people randomly when it is in my pocket (even with the 'hold' turned on) and my phone regularly freezes (about 3 times a week). The newer smart phones are far better and I can't wait for blackberry to be phased out all together because they suck.

Your Questions About Blackberry Bold 9900 T Mobile

Charles asks…

T-Mobile blackberry bold 9900? is it worth it?

Hi, iv been thinking allot about buying a blackberry bold 9900 because it has both a touch screen and a keypad. i want an iphone but t-mobile doesn't carry them and i have a good plan with them. iv never owned a smart phone before is this a good choice? i want something Professional classy and elegant that i can use everyday. also is the price to much for the phone and should i wait to buy it when it goes down of something THANKS!

admin answers:

Yes, it is worth it if you are looking for something professional. This is the first 4G (i.e. Fast internet connection) blackberry and has both touch screen and keypad.
However, if you want something more powerful, more capable and less expensive, get Tmobile's sensation or MyTouch- teenagers are more into these phones which run google's Android software.

Susan asks…

where can i get my T-mobile BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9900 unlock?

I bought the phone from my friend but its locked to the t-mobile network. I want to be able to use any network provider. I need a trustworthy and reliable site.

admin answers:

You can buy the unlock codes from
www.gsmfast.net. They are the 'cheapest
unlock code' providers. Last month I did some research
to unlock my nokia c3. It worked like a charm.
The codes were cheap too. They have live online chat support
( a cool male agent :) ) who helped me through all the
process and within minutes, what do you know, I got the unlock code via e-mail.
Incredible service too

Lisa asks…

Blackberry bold 9900 3g and 4g?

Hi! well I'm planning to get a new cellphone for christmas, and I decided to buy the Blackberry Bold 9900. I've heard that only the T-mobile version of Blackberry 9900 is with 4g network, is that true?. And is there any significant difference between getting a 3g or a 4g?.

I want it unlocked, my country does not have T-mobile. I just want to buy the T-mobile version because it's 4g network

admin answers:

The Blackberry Bold 9900 is a GSM device which supported by GSM frequency band. The carriers are running their data services using those bands..

The band will be the same as the phone is made by Blackberry. .
T-Mobile is advertising it as 4G other carriers are advertising it as 3G but you can see that still some Blackberry carriers which go as "3G" works faster then the "4G".

Anyway... The Bold 9900 (or the 9930) has the same GSM radio hardware and the speed will be as the speed your carrier is providing you. T-Mobile it's just a carrier branding for the Bold 9900 device so if you are going to unlock your Bold 9900 the speed will be the one that your carrier will provide you.

Ken asks…

Blackberry Bold 9900 Release Date?

I am really confused as I am thinking of getting the 9900 on O2, but apparently the release date in the UK (where I am) is the 15th September? However, on the O2 website it doesn't say anything that suggests it is a preorder... could someone explain if it is already released or not, thanks.

admin answers:

From what ive read on the carphone warehouse site it 23rd august, they have the prices etc there also. Take a look.

Daniel asks…

T Mobile HTC Sensation or Blackberry Bold?

im thinking of getting a new phone. Currently i have the blackberry bold 9700 and im thinking of changing phones to a HTC Sensation. I Also heard that the new blackberry bold 9900 is coming out next month and it is also a touch screen. I don't know if i should wait for the new bold or get the HTC sensation. Which phone do you think is better?

admin answers:

I know that T Mobile is really pushing to get rid of their phones ,but you do not want to buy one as they will lock you into a contract. As of March 2011, they are merging with ATT and you will be forced to go to ATT or pay an ETF and ATT will not allow TM phones on their network. Thus the phone will be useless. I hope that this helps.

John asks…

Blackberry Bold 9900 Help?

As you might know the battery life on the Bold 9900 is terrible!!

When I go to school and barely use it because its in my pocket during class, the battery is already yellow (almost dead) by 12:00 or 1:00.

I brought a charger to school yesterday, but its such a hassle.

Is there a different type of battery that lasts longer that I could get for the bold 9900???

If not, does anyone know how the Torch 9810 battery is like???

Thanks

admin answers:

Maybe you got a unoriginal battery, you should prepare some other batteries.

The battery for 9000, 9700, 9900 are the same.

Thanks.

Questions About Blackberry Bold 9900

Susan asks…

When is the Blackberry Bold 9900/9300 release date?

I have the old curve and I'm really starting to get sick of it, it's not working well and I really need a new phone. Should I wait until the Bold 9900 comes out or just buy Bold 3? I really need a phone. If the Blackberry 9900 is coming out soon, I can wait but if it's coming out next year I don't really think it's worth the wait.

admin answers:

The Blackberry Bold 9900 was to be released this summer but the release date has recently been pushed back to September. So you won't have to wait until next year to get one (they might push the date back again, but that seems unlikely).

If I were you, though, I would just get the Bold 3 now. It's really annoying to have a phone that's not working well especially if you have to wait at least 3 months before you can replace it. If you're in doubt, check out both phones on the Blackberry website and see if you really want the new features of the Bold 9900.

Linda asks…

Does the new blackberry bold 9900 allow you to open multiple web pages simulteneously on its safari browser?

This option is available for the iphone and the samsung galaxy and I was wondering if multiple web windows could be opened (and minimised) on the blackberry bold 9900's safari browser at the same?

Thanks!

The Safari browser is not available for BBs but you can open multiple pages with the BlackBerry browser.

How to unlock Rogers blackberry bold 9900 torch 9810 for tmobile AT&T with mms and Internet browser?

We are going to canada this week and buying the new blackberry bold 9900 and torch 9810 from Rogers, but when we come back to USA we want to use on tmobile or AT&T, with mms an Internet browser function
I think Bell and Telus are also releasing them so I assume my question is howto fully unlock any canada blackberry torch 9810 and bold 9900 lol

admin answers:

You can goto http://www.ProMobileMotion.com to get the factory unlock code, this way your Torch 9810 & Bold 9900 from Rogers , Bell or Telus, doesn't matter, will be fully unlocked to work on ANY GSM NETWORK WORLD WIDE, that includes Tmobile & AT&T or any other ones that use a sim card. ProMobileMotion use factory unlock codes so your internet browser + MMS will also work.

The new Blackberry Bold 9900 was meant to be on sale in certain stores ie Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U yesterday August 18th. However neither seem to stock it as yet nor know when they will.
