Your Questions About Blackberry Bold 9650 Review

George asks…

Blackberry bold 9650 on sprint, can it play videos?

I currently have a curve 8330 and am trying to decide whether to upgrade right now to the Bold 9650 or wait it out for something better to come out. Questions I have:
- Can the Bold 9650 play videos online (for example a music video on youtube)?
- How much better is the web browser than what i already have, i obviously know that it's faster, but I mean the way the browser looks, etc. Many webpages do not/will not load on my Curve 8330
- Is the upgrade great enough that I should make the switch now or wait for a better blackberry to come along?

Personal opinions would be great because I have watched review videos and none of them seem to answer my specific questions, especially the one of watching videos online. Please do not tell me to switch carriers because I can't. And please do not tell me to pick a different phone, I would like another Blackberry. Thanks so much!

admin answers:

The 8330 plays YT videos and surfs the web just fine as long as you keep your device maintained and up to date.

The 9650 will do the same.

A BB is similar to a computer. Keep it clean (software) and updated and it will work just fine.

Thomas asks…

Droid 2 or Blackberry Bold 9650?

I've seen other questions about this but I want a more updated and more "experienced" reply. I have the LG Voyager (which I loved until the inside screen cracked and went black) right now, and i'm due for an upgrade in a week or so. I've heard that the Droid 2 isn't very promising but people are choosing the Android OS over the Blackberry. They both come with the same deal which is buy 1 get 1 free, the Droid priced at 150$ and the Blackberry 100$. I am a touch screen user but I wouldn't mind using a track pad. I've heard many rumors about the Droid not being as promising as it sounds when it comes to battery life and "cheek dialing." Are these true, does the cheek accidentally dial the number if you hold it to tight or at a weird angle? I haven't read any bad reviews about the Bold though. Oh, and i'm only getting the 15$ data package plan for the phone, so I only have 150MB of web and email and what not. The thing is, Id rather have a a phone that is a "step back" if you know what I mean rather than a newer phone which isnt working as well as it should? I'd really appreciate any feedback from users of both phones, so I can get a good comparison between the two, because they are completely different OSs and I dont want to pick the wrong one. And if there is a phone like the "Blackberry Torch" that is coming out for verizon in the next month or so, I'd like to know about it, because I can totally wait for that. Thanks a lot!

admin answers:

It really depends what you use your phone for. If you love Apps, then Blackberry isn't the phone for you. It's a great phone (I have one) but it's only a great phone if you actually use it to work (I email A LOT) and calling and texting. It's not a "fun" gadget phone by any means, so if that's what you're looking for then I suggest not getting a Blackberry.

Linda asks…

Blakberry Curve 9330 or Blackberry Bold 9650?

I definitely want to get one of these phones. I've been looking into them and reading reviews but they say a lot of the same things. So i would like to hear other opinions before i make my final decision! Please help (:

admin answers:

Hey Airsoft, both the 9330 and 9650 are newer than your 9700.

The 9650 is better

The 9650 has a better camera (3.2 MP with flash vs 2.0 MP no flash)

The 9650 has a better display (480x360 vs 320x240)

The 9650 is a world phone the 9330 isn't

The 9650 is built better and looks nicer

Sandra asks…

Anyone care to give me a review of the verizon blackberry?

My contract just ended with verizon and I want a new phone. I've been thinking about getting a Blackberry but before I shell out the $30 a month I want to make sure its worth it. I want this phone mainly to text, bbm, go on facebook and occasionally surf the internet. I will not be downloading tons of apps. How long is the battery life (does it last a few hours or a few days). Is the internet really fast or will i be waiting 5 mins just for one page to load. Im looking into either the blackberry curve 8530, the blackberry tour 9630 or the blackberry bold 9650. Any information would be great.

admin answers:

The Blackberry is one of best smart phones out, I have the curve 8530 n the battery last a long, you can muti-task, the browser is good also

Maria asks…

Get Blackberry Tour or wait for Bold 9650(Tour 2)?

I'm switching to Verizon soon, and I was planning on getting the Tour. I've heard bad reviews about it - the trackball, no internal memory, no wifi. Than I heard the Tour 2 or bold 9650 is coming soon. I really need a new phone soon and since they've already delayed the bold 9650 before I don't know if I want to wait any longer before just getting the Tour. If I do decide to just go ahead and get the Tour would I be able to switch to the Bold 9650 if it comes out within 30 days for free? And if not, would you recommend me buying the tour or waiting?

admin answers:

FYI: All blackberry phones have internal memory. What they are referring to is a lack of it...

The Tour is definitely usable. It's bad reviews hail from it's comparison to the bold 9700 (which is awesome).

I would say that if you're switching real soon, like within a couple days or the week, to NOT rely on being able to switch to Tour 2/Bold. There is not guaranteed release date (as of now), which is to say it might not come out in 30 days. Grrrr verizon.

Case 1: Apathetic
If you don't care about the Tour 2 that much or absolutely LOVE the upgrades. Then get the Tour, there are many happy users.

Case 2: Addict
If you are wishy washy about the Tour 1 and really really want the Tour 2 (like me). I would wait (if possible) to sign up, otherwise suck it up and follow Case 1.

Questions About Blackberry Vs Iphone 5

Thomas asks…

Blackberry bold vs. iPhone 5?

It's new for me to get a new phone but I'm torn between whichnone to get. The only reason i am considering getting the blackberry's because all my friends have bbm! I already have a iPod but inlove it so much I want the iPhone as well... If anyone has some good information on both the phones that will help me decide, please share!

admin answers:

BlackBerry 9700 Bold Unlocked Smartphone s a great product. It's more compact that the Bold 9000 that I used to own. I much prefer the touch-sensitive track pad compared to the trackball too. Besides those two main factors the functions and battery life are basically the same between the two.

I love my blackberry it is so amazing i never wright reviews but this product is so awsome that i had to wright a review of course with every product there is at least one thing i dont like but i have have 10000 that is good to say about the device i take lots of pics and the camera on this phone has very good quality video could be better not to much impressed with that.

Carol asks…

Blackberry Torch 9810 vs iPhone 5/4S vs Blackberry Torch 9860?

So I'm getting a phone and I don't know what phone to get. Everyone in my family has a Blackberry and most of my friends have one too. I want an iPhone because I want to have a different phone than everyone else but then again I want a Blackberry so I can BBM everyone. Also I have an iPod Touch 4G if that helps. Which one do you think is the best?

Thanks!
My dad has an Blackberry Bold 9900. So I don't want the same phone as him.
My carrier doesn't have the Samsung Galaxy.

admin answers:

I have had an iPhone 4 for about 6 months and have no problems with it at all and it is definitely recommended, especially of you own an iPod touch, because I bet if you get a blackberry you will still carry around your iPod but if you get an iPhone you will mix both together and get Internet wherever you go

Joseph asks…

BlackBerry vs iPhone for teen guy?

I currently am using an iPhone 3GS, and am eligible for an upgrade. Around my high school, BlackBerry's are the most prevalent, but is BBM worth it to switch to a BlackBerry? I do use SMS alot, but most of the people I text have BlackBerry's. The plan that I have already comes with unlimited text, so dropping unlimited text would be irrelevant. If I were to get a BlackBerry, coming from an iPhone, which one do you think would be best for me? It would have to have GSM and 3G as thats what my network (Telus) offers. If I were to stay with the iPhone, would it be best to just stay with the 3GS and wait for an iPhone 5 or get an iPhone 4 now? I want to hear your opinion.

admin answers:

I would say that switching to a BlackBerry for BBM is a terrible idea because you can text just the same on an iPhone as you can on a BlackBerry. Plus, you can get way more apps, and you can even video chat on an iPhone! Both of which you cannot really do with a BlackBerry. I say you get and iPhone 4 now, that way in a year and a half you will be eligible for an upgrade just in time for the iPhone 6 to come out. Most likely there won't be any extremely nice and big changes for iPhone 5 but on iPhone 6 it will be time for some big changes and you will be able to get it right when it comes out.

Sandy asks…

Blackberry vs. iPhone vs. Android?

I am switching to Sprint and I don't know which phone to get. Blackberry is coming out with a new curve which will be available on Sprint. Sprint is getting the iPhone in October, they will have the new iPhone 5 and the discounted iPhone 4. The final choice is the HTC Evo Shift 4G. Whihc one should i get? BB Curve, Iphone 4 or 5, or HTC Evo Shift? HELP!!!!
I don't want to spend $200 that is why the BB bold is not an option or any of the new android phones

admin answers:

IPhone

Lizzie asks…

A new phone?? AT&T vs. Verizon??? Blackberry vs. IPhone?

I currently have the LG Neon and my carrier is At&t. For a long time i thought that Verizon was the best carrier out there. I was recently thinking about switching to Verizon. Is there really a difference with the carrier? Also i wanted to get a new phone. My plan is up around April 21. I have been thinking about either getting an IPhone or a Blackberry. I dont particularly like the Blackberry torch so i have been thinking about the Curve or Bold. If i was to get an Iphone i would get Iphone 4 or wait til the Iphone 5 comes out. I am using it for personal use, i was wondering if it would be better to get a Blackberry and if so which Blackberry. If its better to get an Iphone. Whatever you pick as the best please give a reason. Thank you soo much for answering this. I dont want to make a mistake getting the wrong phone so every answer is helpful!!!

Questions About Blackberry Curve 9300 Trackpad Not Working

Jenny asks…

blackberry curve 3g 9300 trackpad problem (working but not working) ?

my blackberry trackpad works on the main screen meaning it can move up down left and right but when i click to go on a option or the menu it doesnt move at all, its strange problem and its stopping be browsing my phone and only letting me stay on my homepage, letting me use the apps there.

i have owned just a month and its in good condition, i dont what the problem could be ?

admin answers:

A good starting point with Blackberry problems is always to try resetting the phone by removing and refitting the battery. This solves a lot of software glitches.

Robert asks…

blackberry curve 9300 trackpad issue?

okay, so 1 month ago i got a blackberry curve 9300 and it worked perfectly fine until the other night.i was talking to my friend on BBM and it froze so i took the battery out and put it back in, it was fine, i thought nothing of it. then the next day it froze again so i took the battery out for two Mins. and it worked again, since then it must have frozen about 20 times now! it froze last night but no matter how hard i tried it still wouldn't work, so i left the battery out all night but it still wont work, and its not under warranty any more.what do i do?x

admin answers:

Easy this one you need a New Track Pad, i had to change one on my Daughters the other day, she had the exact same symptoms as you. EBay sell them for about £3. Make sure you buy the correct one for your phone, BUT if your unsure how to do it Please take it to a specialist. You WILL need special screw drivers and new screws to replace the ones you will round off, all available off EBay. It only takes about 5 mins to do.

Susan asks…

The trackpad on my blackberry curve 9300 keeps stopping and not work l. What can I do! ?

It doesn't let me select, move anywhere or anything

admin answers:

Mine is the same. Your best bet is to take it to a phone shop & send it off to get fixed BUT
BBs are known for being shit, when you can throw the lump of junk away and get something more reliable x

Steven asks…

The trackpad on my BlackBerry 9300 Curve doesn't work?

I've had my BlackBerry Curve 9300 for about 4 months now, the trackpad on it has seemed to stop working around 2/3 weeks ago, It would only work if you pressed down on the pad really hard until it would scroll but now it doesn't even do that and has completely stopped working. I tried taking the battery out numerous of times for about 30 seconds each and that didn't work. Although one time, I woke up one morning and the scroll was working absolutely fine but again now, it doesn't work what so ever so I have to use the keys on my phone for it to work.

Also yesterday I have found another problem that the left and right side of my phone do not work either.
If you have any ideas how I could fix these problems please leave some suggestions, would really appreciate it. Thank you.
Neil, of course I'm not going to buy a new one, I'm not made of money. I'm only 15.

admin answers:

I hace the exact same phone my advice is to take it back to the shop u bought it from and see if the phone is faulty or if its still under guarintee

Laura asks…

My blackberry curve 9300 doesn't work?

right, I am actually begging you to help me!
I've had my phone 4 months now, and it's just absolute shit. The trackpad stopped working about 3 weeks ago, and last week I took it into repair and they rang me today to say they have my 'new' phone. But then when I got there they told me that Blackberry didn't repair it because of some sort of damage I APPARENTLY did to it, even though it has no damage what so ever except for little scratch on the screen. So they didn't repair my trackpad/phone and because I only have insurance with the bank not with them I'm thinking that's why they won't repair it. Also the bank side won't repair it because it's now on warrenty. But anyways, I just tried to make it work and updated it on my laptop and I now have the new software on there, (but as before my trackpad wasn't working I was still able to use SOME of the applications using the keyboard) but now as I've downloaded this software minutes ago, I can't get this screen off explaining about the Blackberry rules & regulations.. the enter button won't make it go away, neither will the space bar, nothing.. I have no idea what to do?! I'm only 15, and to be honest my parents aren't rich and they're so annoying telling me how they won't buy a new one etc. I actually feel like crying... PLEASE help me! How do I get my phone working?!?!

admin answers:

Wish i could help but doubt i can, except to say your phone is under warranty therefore they should repair it, nothing you have done would have caused the trackpad to go wrong. As for what you have just done, you could try a hard reboot it may reset it back to main screen, remove battery with phone on, wait a few seconds then replace. Maybe an idea to ask your father to take the phone back to be repaired. If its only 4months old then the warranty should certainly cover a trackpad. Sorry cant help you further. May be an idea to put your question in the blackberry forums, just type blackberry forum in search. You may get some better and more helpfull answers.
